The silence on this blog was just because we were holding our breath the last couple of days. We are a new media blog and not a political one. But we cannot let this pass without mentioning. Now Obama has prevailed he has lots of work to do. (YouTube video: “What the Next President Inherits”)

Let’s start at the latest developments, the passing of Prop 8 in California today. As I am writing this down, there are already protests being organized on Twitter for tonight (7pm PST) at San Vicente Blvd (West Hollywood) and other places. And there is also action going on at WordPress Blogs, YouTube, Flickr & other.

But the constant feed on Twitter clearly wins. It forms a nice live example of how powerfull Twitter has become and how relevant, for the rallies can already be organized within 24h after the news. Especially in the light of the multiple times that blogs are declared dead while Twitter (and alike) are pointed to as being the future applications. Events like this show the different functions they fullfill. Blogs have become the CNN studio showing the polls, while microblogging is the reporter on the street. Although that last comparison could have been a better one, I think I got my point across. Luckily Obama realizes that Twitters are powerfull, these are the words in which he (or one of his staff members) thanked the Twitter Community:

“We just made history. All of this happened

because you gave your time, talent and

passion. All of this happened because of

you. Thanks”

If you’ll excuse me now, I’ll check the 234 tweets about prop8 I’ve missed while writing this.
