Bruce Sterling on blogs – podcast
On: September 29, 2006
Bruce Sterling, cyberpunk science fiction writer, asks what new media does for writers. He talks about the creative process of writing, the restrictions and politics, the uselessness of Microsoft Word and.. blogs! Apparently, comic book writers and stand-up comedians stand a better chance of being good bloggers, the short story format just wouldn’t work. The lecture is over an hour but worth it.

too bad it is a podcast, and not a videocast…
(it’s easier to stay focused when it’s not just audio, for me anyway, especially on a Friday afternoon!)
What I usually do when listening is a lot of other things. I clean the rooms, print some stuff, walk around, etc. For some reason those things mix pretty good.
Nice lecture by the way, but I think it’s a matter of time before books/novels find their own way on the blogs. Blogformats don’t really support lenghty stories, and as Heleen pointed out last thursday (I think it was): Reading from a screen still isn’t as comfy as in your favourite chair. With new methods of display this might change imho.
