In this little machinima movie, Valve shows of their new rendering style in the upcoming game Team Fortress 2. The cool thing about it is that it almost looks like a genuine Pixar short. But everything you see is rendered in real-time, which looks amazing if you ask me. The videoclip also illustrates some highly recognizable multiplayer scenario’s like having a huge map with a small amount of players, and the highly unappreciated art of camping. Enjoy :)
The introduction to the other characters like the ‘heavy weapons guy’ is so funny. I would not be surprised if PIXAR will soon be involved. These crossmedia productions are allready big bussines… Lara Croft, Resident evil, doom and soon Hitman and Spinplant, are all based on successful videogames.
Don’t know about that, but I think this is really about finding new interesting ways to launch a new product or engine. I think that the fact that ingame footage looks so good (and cartoonish), might pave the way for aspiring filmmakers to produce animated movies, since this engine makes it far easier to produce a movie in less time and effort.
P.S. Also check out the mind-boggling game included in the Valve Orange Box as well: Portal
haha spinplant… thats funny :)
