Map of Autocomplete Holland by Google
I had a look at the United States of Autocomplete by Dorothy Gambrell (found through Erik Borra’s mood message on Skype, thanks!). I couldn’t resist trying it out with our own little country and this what you see below is the result of an hour well spent playing copycat, with courtesy to Google of course. The queries were done on www.google.nl and I was not logged in. There was a difference however between .nl and .com; for example ‘Friesland’ shows up with the ‘bank’ as a first result in .nl and with ‘Campina’ in a .com query which is not included in this map. But what I liked most of all is that ‘nature’ not only pops up twice in these Google search results, but ranks first and thus winning from commercial enterprises and alike.
